Dixons Carphone


Dixons Retail Founder Charles Kalms opened first Dixons photo studio in Southend in 1937. In 1984 Dixons completed the acquisition of Currys Group. Carphone Warehouse was founded by Charles Dunstone in 1989. In 2002 Carphone Warehouse completed the acquisition Acquision of Opal Telecom PLC (became part of TalkTalk).

Throughout the years both Dixons & Carphone Warehouse completed various acquisitions along the way whilst also being awarded Retailer of the Year.

In 2014 the merger between Dixons Retail PLC and Carphone Warehouse Group PLC completes & Dixons Carphone is born.

Dixons Carphone’s primary UK brands include Currys, PC World, Carphone Warehouse and Dixons Travel.
